Poole High School, Dorset

Poole High School is located in the heart of the seaside town.  A large school, they pride themselves on their successful pastoral system, reflecting the value they place upon each individual, producing a beneficial ‘small school atmosphere’.

NBB Outdoor Shelters were approached to help create a new sheltered recreation area for their students.  Our dedicated installation team attended the school to discuss their requirements and expectations for the shelter.  It was decided that a two-tiered Free Standing Winterbourne Walkway was the most suitable option to give the right amount of coverage for the school’s needs.

The finished project takes the form of a 12.8m x 11.75m free standing steel shelter, with a mixture of sub-surfaced and wall-attached posts.  Guttering was also included so rain doesn’t cascade between the tiers and over the end of the shelter.

To complement the school colours and current aesthetic, Poole High School opted to have their new shelter galvanised and powder coated, in Squirrel Grey RAL7000.

This surface treatment means the structure will be guaranteed to last 25 years, serving the school for many years to come.  The roof is made from triple wall 16mm polycarbonate, to give a light and airy feel.
